"I promise you that if you will keep your journals and records, they will indeed be a source of great inspiration to your families, to your children, your grandchildren, and others, on through the generations. Each of us is important to those who are near and dear to us-and as our posterity read of our life's experiences, they too, will come to know and love us. And in that glorious day when our families are together in the eternities, we will already be acquainted. What could you do better for your children and your children's children than to record the story of your life, your triumphs over adversity, your recovery after a fall, your progress when all seemed black, your rejoicing when you had finally achieved? Some of what you write may be humdrum dates and places, but there will also be rich passages that will be quoted by your posterity. We hope you will begin as of this date." ~Spencer W. Kimball

"In family relationships, love is really spelled t-i-m-e." _Dieter F. Uchtdorf

A persons own family is without a doubt, the greatest wealth that we will ever possess. Treasure every moment and take the time to ensure that the story you create is one that you will be proud of and look back on with a huge smile.

Dick's vegetable garden

This cute man said he wasn't going to plant a garden this year. (This is 6 tomatoes, 1 jalapeƱo, 2 zucchinis, 1 yellow crookneck squash, and 6 cucumber plants later.) I love how he always keeps going no matter what.

Chemo stopped working. Trying a 3rd chemo.

I don't even know where to start... Dick had scans today like he always does every 6 weeks. We were planning on him being admitted and getting his 24 hour infusion (chemo) after he visited with the doctor. Instead, the news we received from the doctors changed our plans.

The tumors by his liver and pancreas grew. Some doubled in size. The one in his abdomen grew. Dick's tumors didn't only grow. They have spread. There are many new ones in the abdominal area.

The doctor decided to take him off the chemo he's been on for over a year. He feels like it has run it's course and is no longer doing it's job. There are very little options for this cancer. One option he gave Dick was to stop everything. Dick told him that was not an option and that he would rather die from the side effects of chemotherapy than not do anything.

He started a new chemotherapy today. It doesn't require him to get admitted to the hospital. It's given as an outpatient. It doesn't infuse for 24 hours, only one hour. He will get it every week on Monday instead of every third week. He will get scanned in eight weeks and see if it stabilizes the tumors. They don't think it will shrink them but hopefully stop them from growing and spreading.
