"I promise you that if you will keep your journals and records, they will indeed be a source of great inspiration to your families, to your children, your grandchildren, and others, on through the generations. Each of us is important to those who are near and dear to us-and as our posterity read of our life's experiences, they too, will come to know and love us. And in that glorious day when our families are together in the eternities, we will already be acquainted. What could you do better for your children and your children's children than to record the story of your life, your triumphs over adversity, your recovery after a fall, your progress when all seemed black, your rejoicing when you had finally achieved? Some of what you write may be humdrum dates and places, but there will also be rich passages that will be quoted by your posterity. We hope you will begin as of this date." ~Spencer W. Kimball

"In family relationships, love is really spelled t-i-m-e." _Dieter F. Uchtdorf

A persons own family is without a doubt, the greatest wealth that we will ever possess. Treasure every moment and take the time to ensure that the story you create is one that you will be proud of and look back on with a huge smile.

Halloween 2012

I made these fun donuts for the family. It was a wonderful after school snack for the kids. They were a great hit! Deacon loved the fangs and wanted the purple ones. Halloween is not Halloween without candy corn. Even though I don't like it that much, I still buy it because it is the cutest candy in the world.
Of course we have to have our pumpkin seeds as usual.
 Deacon helped mix the seasoning.
They were so yummy!
We also went to a pumpkin patch today. We know the couple who owns it and we try to go every year. The owner, Wayne Bench, is the drummer for some of the plays that Dick has directed at the Burley Theater. This time of year he wasn't able to be part of the band for Patsy Cline because of his pumpkin patch. Wayne's tractor was broken but we still got our ride around the pumpkin patch.  He pulled us with his 4 wheeler. He even took our picture.
They had a maze for little kids. It was perfect for Deacon.
When we got home there were trick or treaters all over the place already. I asked Dad if we could sit on our bench outside and wait for the little children just the way my parents use to in Texas. Luckily it was a wonderful day and not freezing as usual so we were able to do it.
We really enjoyed all the little ones and their cute costumes.
As we were giving out candy, we kept noticing that after the children started to walk away, they would turn with a jerk and stared at our window.
Guess what we found staring out of our window? This was Miss Aubrey. The practical joker and drama blood runs in her veins too.
Then a little witch came to visit. What a little cutie. This is Abby Merrill. She is Mark and Jacque Merrill's youngest. They come trick or treating every year, come inside, and we visit for quite awhile. It's become a tradition. Last year Abby was only 3 months old.
Earlier, I made this wonderful meal in a pumpkin. Perfect for Halloween! Thank you Sugar Doodle!
I carved a medium sized pumpkin.
Then I made this concoction with rice, chicken, mushrooms, onions, celery, cream of chicken, and cream of celery.
I stuffed it in the pumpkin.
I put it in the oven for 1 hour at 350.
The timer went off when the Merrill's were visiting with us.
It smelled so good.
I made some rolls too.
I even had a slice of pumpkin with it. It was pretty good. I had never had pumpkin before with my meal. It kind of tasted like squash or zucchini.
We invited the Merrill's to eat with us. Brianna, Travis, and Deacon showed up too for trick or treating. We had a great visit during dinner. We told the Merrill's we had to do the visit and dinner every year. It will be a new tradition from now on.
Brianna had planned on having Deacon use his monkey costume again this year because it still fit him, but at the last minute he decided he wanted to be a boxer. When Deacon gets something in his head it stays there, so Brianna quickly made him some boxing gloves with duct tape. Meet the boxer...
He loved it!
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Some more 2012 Fall fun...

We had our ward Dinner/Trunk or Treat Fall party today. I volunteered to take 2 dozen cupcakes but I forgot that I had promised Brianna that I would make her a tulle tutu for her costume. It was her Halloween party at her work. Aubrey jumped right in and made the cupcakes for me.
Deacon getting ready to go to the Trunk or Treat at our church.

I had to rush back so that I could take pictures of Anson and his homecoming date.

This was part of his group.
Anson ended up getting home around 10:40 pm because his little date got sick. Their date started at 8 am. During the day all the kids took their ACT's, drove to Twin Falls and went to Nascar, had dinner, and then the dance. Before she got sick, he said they had lots of fun.
Brianna worked from 6 pm to 1 am at Chadwick's for their Halloween party. She was a Chadwick Halloween Fairy.

Deacon and I waited up for her. When she came home I took some pictures of my beautiful daughter and Deacon.
 Then she took him home.
Goodnight family...

Homecoming week...

This week has been Homecoming week so there has been lots of activities going on at the high school for Anson.
Dress up week at school, Bonfire, Powderpuff football, Homecoming queen assembly, Homecoming Pep Assembly, Homecoming football game, etc.
Wednesday we went to the Powderpuff football game.
We took Deacon with us because we were babysitting and because he loves football.
 It was so cold!

In fact, Dick took this picture and you can see the snow falling. After it started snowing/raining, the temperature dropped even more.
We were invited to the Homecoming Pep Assembly where the mothers got to escort the varsity football players.
I got to escort my very handsome son.
Deacon and Brianna joined Dad and I.
At the football game, both Dick and I escorted our sweet boy.
Coach Thomas gave him a long, huge hug.
Anson got teary eyed, so did I.

After the game, Deacon got to go in the announcer's box with Papa.

Yes, our little boy is a senior...

 Tomorrow is his Homecoming dance.

Fall leaves

We've been losing all the leaves to our trees.
I gathered some leaves the other day and piled them all in a tray.
I made an awesome Fall arrangement for our dining table.
I used some of my sage and oregano leaves.
Not only did it look beautiful, it smelled amazing too.
I also made a little Autumn crown.
I was hoping our little granddaughters were here but who said little boys can't enjoy one too.
