"I promise you that if you will keep your journals and records, they will indeed be a source of great inspiration to your families, to your children, your grandchildren, and others, on through the generations. Each of us is important to those who are near and dear to us-and as our posterity read of our life's experiences, they too, will come to know and love us. And in that glorious day when our families are together in the eternities, we will already be acquainted. What could you do better for your children and your children's children than to record the story of your life, your triumphs over adversity, your recovery after a fall, your progress when all seemed black, your rejoicing when you had finally achieved? Some of what you write may be humdrum dates and places, but there will also be rich passages that will be quoted by your posterity. We hope you will begin as of this date." ~Spencer W. Kimball

"In family relationships, love is really spelled t-i-m-e." _Dieter F. Uchtdorf

A persons own family is without a doubt, the greatest wealth that we will ever possess. Treasure every moment and take the time to ensure that the story you create is one that you will be proud of and look back on with a huge smile.

Our Memorial weekend in Logan

Another weekend with our grandkids!

This past weekend we went to Logan again. We got to see the grandkids again! Yeah!!!!!! Dick left Saturday at 7:oo am. On the way to Logan, he got a flat tire. He called me and said "I tried to fix the tire and while the car was up and I was getting the spare tire, the jack slipped and fell..... so I can't lift it again because it's too low". I called emergency road side assistance, through our insurance and help was there in no time. (Women, I tell you....what would we do without us?) He was late for his first rehersal though. He loves working with Richie. He feels like it's such a breath of fresh air to be able to direct professionals and to have a musical director, a set designer, and a choreographer. In high school, he does it all and he is not used to this. He loves his cast, especially Richie. The kids and I didn't go until Saturday about 3:00 pm. Anson had alot of hockey games. (Tournament) Their league took second place. Brianna took Travis with us to Logan because he wanted to meet Richie, Chrislynn and the children. He was very nervous about meeting Brianna's older brother for the very first time. We had dinner at Firehouse Pizza. We spent the first night at Grandpa Vosco Call's since there was no openings at hotels because of Memorial Day. In the morning, we went to the Brigham and Willard cemetaries to take flowers. Ever since I got married, we have always made little bouquets of flowers in little Dixie cups that Grandma Ruth Call showed us how to make. The children would always find little flowers in the garden and Grandma Ruth and I would arrange the little bouquets. This time Grandpa Vosco and the kids brought flowers while Brianna and I arranged the bouquets. After the cemetaries we stopped at Call's Drive In to have burgers. I guess one of Grandpa Vosco's distant relatives owns the drive in. We had reservations at a hotel for the second night. I'm glad we did because Grandpa Vosco was pretty overwhelmed with so many people. The funny thing was, that it was just my family. Richie III and Sophia came to the hotel to swim. I really think that if Chrislynn would let go of Sophia, she would take off swimming. She loved the water. Her little legs were going a hundred miles an hour. Little Richie loved the pool too. He is so cute! It's funny to hear my kids argue because everyone wanted to hold him in the pool. Next morning we had breakfast and the kids went back in the pool. Richie and Chrislynn brought Richie III and Sophia again. Again they had a blast! After the hotel we had lunch at good old McDonalds. Richie III and Sophia took a nap. Brianna found her wedding shoes. Yeah! Then after Dick and Richie came home from rehersal, we had dinner at Olive Garden. After dinner, we all went to see Aunt Mina. Aunt Mina is the sister of Dick's maternal grandmother. Aunt Mina wanted to see Richie's children and she also wanted to give Brianna a quilt she made for her wedding gift. She is such a great lady. I have always felt a great affection for her. After our visit Dick went with Richie and Chrislynn to Grandpa Vosco's and the kids and I headed to Burley. It was strange leaving Dick behind. It's been especially odd without him here at home. Yesterday he said he got to babysit while Richie and Chrislynn went to the temple. When we were visiting on the phone, he said "Well, I better go.....gotta watch the kids." He is so cute, but I think he just called to make me a little jealous. I wish we could stay in Logan with him this summer. It would be a great opportunity to bond with the grandchildren. With a wedding reception happening in less then a month in our backyard and my new primary calling, etc. it's almost impossible. I'll post some pictures of our weekend with the grandkids tonight after MORE yard work.

The best mosquito repellent in the world!

I've never felt good about putting bug spray on my kids because I don't think it's safe. Last year we had a few cases of West Nile Virus here in Burley. Our former Seminary president, Bro. Petersen had a pretty severe case. Up to this day, he still has to go to physical therapy because it did so much damage to his central nervous system. Aubrey is so allergic to the mosquito bites. She gets a horrible red mountain and the day after the bite, her skin starts to slough off. It's a scary site. I know of the best mosquito repellent in the world. Mosquito's hate the smell, they won't even come close. If you're outside, you can spray it in the area around you or even spray it on your skin or children's skin. It's safe. It's not expensive at all. The magical potion is LISTERINE!!!!! You can pour it in a spray bottle. Works like magic!

Weekend with our grandchildren

Saturday we went to Logan, Utah to see Richie, Chrislynn, and the children. Richie started rehearsal for one of the three shows he'll be in this summer. He started rehearsal for "The Dresser". He plays the dresser to Sir who is played by his grandfather, Vosco Call. I can't wait to see him in all three shows. It was so good to see Richie and Chrislynn, but the best part of this weekend was seeing our grandchildren. (Richie III and Sophia) Richie III loves Aubrey and Aubrey loves Richie III. Last summer when we went to see them in New Jersey, they also became immediate bestfriends. When we left Logan, little Aubrey cried in the back seat because she didn't want to leave Richie III behind. His vocabulary is amazing! He is so cute and has the most beautiful blue eyes. Sophia is so beautiful and is all smiles. We love those two!

PICS FROM MY NEW CAMERA!

For Mother's Day I got a new camera from Giselle. I love it! It is so user friendly, just what I needed. I can't handle very complicated electronics. Thanks Sissy!!!!! These are some pictures from today and I will take some everyday for the rest of my life.
The tulips in the front of our house look so beautiful. I wish I could freeze them for Brianna's reception. She wants all the flowers in the garden yellow since that is one of her colors. It's sad that our tulips and daffodils will be gone.

Dad has the garden all ready for planting. I think the only thing he has planted are the onions, carrots and beans. He has been waiting for "no chance of freezing" weather. This next week he will plant everything.

We bought lots of yellow flowers to plant. All the yellow marigolds will go all around Dick's garden, since they keep the bugs away.

More yellow flowers! We will be busy planting them next week. We have to have yellow flowers everywhere for Bree's reception!

Bree and I planted the pansies last week. They are doing really good.

I love how everything is starting to get green and colorful. The trees are getting full again. It's my favorite time of year.

Will Dick ever grow up?

I don't know what to do about Dick. Sometimes I think he'll never grow up. I think since he is surrounded by high school kids all the time, sometimes he thinks that HE is a high school kid himself. The other day we were playing family games and I saw him whispering something in Anson's ear as we were getting done. All of the sudden I see him jump on Travis and Anson helps Dick by holding his feet. That way Travis couldn't get away. I guess what Dick whispered to Anson was, "when I wink at you hold his feet." Poor Travis! His face looked like, "what in the world is this guy doing to me?" It really was so random. I even thought like, "what the heck!" I also wanted to help Travis but I was afraid I'd get hit or break a nail. I guess Travis doesn't know what he is getting into.

First-class Roadside Assistance

I will never complain about my life again! In the last post I kind of was complaining about our busy and crazy days. Well, yesterday Brianna and I went to Ogden, Utah to see her diabetic specialist and a specialist for her eyes. About 2 months ago, we took Brianna to an eye Dr. here in Burley and he discovered she had bleeding going on behind both of her eyes. He told us he would see her in a year. I wanted her to get a second opinion from a Dr. in the big city since diabetic retinopathy causes blindness. I wanted to make sure she didn't need any laser surgery to stop the bleeding. The specialist in Ogden agreed with our little small town doc and said after being diabetic for almost 14 years, the bleeding going on is pretty common. He encouraged Brianna to gain better control of her blood sugars so that the bleeding won't get worse and that he felt he didn't have to do laser yet. He did tell her that she had to be extra careful not to let her sugars go too high or the bleeding will get worse. We were both relieved to get a second opinion. After both Dr. visits we went to Cafe Rio and had a wonderful lunch. We headed home and all we could do was talk about wedding plans. Well, about 5 miles out of Snowville the fuel reminder starting dinging and Brianna said we had 43 miles of gas to go. We both figured we'd gas up in Snowville. We always stop there and buy snacks and use the bathroom. When we got there Bree was on the phone talking to Donna Westergard about altering her wedding dress. Before she got out of the car to use the bathroom I told her I thought that if I didn't stand up I'd be ok and I wouldn't have to use the bathroom. She comes back to the car still on the phone and we leave. Well like 35 miles later Brianna says, "Mom, I'm loosing all pressure to the car, it's dying!" I told her to pull off to the right side of the street and finally the car died. I was thinking her car isn't even a year old so what could it be? Then about the same time, we both look at eachother and say, "We didn't gas up!" We don't know how it could be possible that we both forgot, but figured that there must be a reason and the Lord was watching out for us. Instead of being upset, we decided to make the best of it and had our own little photo shoot. We couldn't get ahold of Dad, Anson, or Aubrey so we called Travis and he brought us some gas. We figured we were only about 25 miles away from Burley, so it didn't take too long for him to come rescue us. The total time we were sitting there was about an hour, and then we were on our way.

Good thing we had leftover Cafe Rio incase we went hungry...

We decided we both needs fills

Fiance Travis to the rescue!

Our hero even surprised us with Diet Pepsi!

Crazy days

Things just never slow down. I like it when there is not a lot going on because we get to spend more time together as a family. It just seems like we jump from one thing to another. First, Anson's hockey started. He has two practices weekly and 4-5 games weekly. Second, Dick's show opened last Thursday. Dick stays at school when his shows open because call for the actors is at 5:00, so he feels like he might as well stay there and start make-up on some kids that refuse to go home. Third, Anson's football camp started. (Every day, even on Saturdays from 6-8 pm) I'm glad that just goes on for 2 weeks. Dick figured if he wants to do 8th grade football next year, this is the best way to find out if he likes it. Plus it's free, they get a t-shirt, a football, a sports bag and two NFL players from the Seattle Seahawks that work with them. Then there is mutual, activity days, school (take them and pick them up), homework, lessons, etc. (I've felt like a taxi driver lately) I've also been trying to work 2 days a week. I don't know what I would do without Brianna. Sometimes Dick has rehersal at 6 am and I have to be to work at 6:30 am, so sweet Bree gets the kids going and takes them to school. I love staying busy, I just miss our routine that we had gotten really good at. We also have been trying to do yard work as much as we can. Brianna always goes to work on Saturdays at 9 am, but this Saturday her boss said she could go in at 12:00. So Brianna said, "Yes, I get to sleep in!" Well.....Friday, Dick announced that we were all to meet in the backyard at 8 am, even Travis. He told us there was a lot of yard work to do. We all got up and helped, then at about 11:30, we all took off in different directions. Dick had a matinee at 12:00, Brianna had to work at 12:00, Anson had a hockey game at 12:00, so Aubrey and Anson went with me. Travis stayed all by himself to finish his job. It was so funny when I realized he was left all alone. When the kids and I came home about an hour and a half later, Travis was still working in the backyard. So we went to get him some lunch. Travis had the hardest job. Dick always does that job, but after his heart attack, he is not supposed to strain so Travis took over. Anyway, that has kind of been a typical day for us this past 2-3 weeks. Oh, last Sunday I got a new calling at church. I am the second counselor in the primary presidency. I am excited and happy to stay in primary with Aubrey. I love the rest of the presidency! They are all so much fun! These pictures aren't that great, they were taken with my cell phone.

The beginning...

Just about done! It's such a big job, the picture really doesn't do it justice.
